Review criteria

— Methodological soundness — does the method support the claim, does the sample carry the conclusion, are limitations stated

— Fit to topic  — does the method support the claim, does the sample carry the conclusion, are limitations stated

— Contribution —  a new finding, a method applied in a new setting, or a transferable quality improvement project

Process and timing

— Decisions issued within two days of submission
—  No revise-and-resubmit stage
—   Declines carry a short reason, usually fit or an unsupported conclusion

—  Registration and submission are separate — a paid registration does not reserve a slot

Conflicts of interest

Reviewers stand down from abstracts submitted by their own institution, a current collaborator or a supervised student. Those submissions move to another panel member with relevant expertise.

Credentials

Full credential strings are published for every panel member. In nursing they define scope of practice and certification, which is the information a submitting author needs to judge the panel.

Joining the panel

The committee is refreshed annually. We recruit doctorally prepared nurses and senior APRNs with a publication record and review experience, currently with gaps in informatics, telehealth and paediatric practice.
